“I'm a color-coded, post-it noted kinda gal and the start of our parenting journey was no different.  I had planned for this since I got my first cabbage patch doll in the 90's. My birth plan was typed up all pretty, with hopes and dreams of essential oils and twinkle lights.  Her name was chosen, the registry was made, and shower favors were picked out.  The nursery was painted a cheery light blue and blankets were being knit.  It was everything I had pictured- a healthy pregnancy, hand-me-down maternity clothes, morning sickness - all of it was great and expected, until the pandemic happened.

With it came worries I didn't know were possible and questions no one had answers to.  My baby shower was celebrated almost daily with the friendly FedEx and UPS drivers in my driveway and almost comically now the only thing that went how it was typed on my birth plan is that I birthed a baby.

The waters were unsettling and Cindy and Roxie became my little life boats.  They were not only caring for my baby, but they were caring for me in more ways than I probably led on.  I haven't hugged my Mom in months, so my congrats hug from Roxie and Cindy felt like a million bucks.  During labor, Cindy couldn't have been more supportive.  My friends who have had Cindy at their births told me, "she's just everything you need at all the right times - you'll know what I mean."  It's true.  I get it.  Roxie's home is the one place other than my home that I feel safe, and their advice, support, and knowledge allowed for the one part of the plan that was most important: a healthy baby, to go exactly as planned.  I'm forever grateful for their level of professionalism crafted so personally with love and sincerity of my whole family's well being.  We're soaking up all the new baby feels now, but when we're ready, we're looking forward to working with Sage Midwifery as our family grows! <3”
